All right, so last weekend was a long one, and me and
some buds decided it wuz time to 'ave a really big game.
Hence I teamed up wiv a footslogger for a grand total
of 7K Orks, and we faced of against an equal amount of points divided in
between a Puritan and a radical Witch Hunter.
As a side dish, there was a small contingent of 17
Black templars that were safe guarding an Inquisitor with his retinue in the
central building. The Inquisitor and his retinue could not participate in the
game other than trying to keep out of harms' way.
They had to rescue the Inquisitor, we had to capture
him.
I don't know how, but in between 11 o'clock and 17
o'clock, we managed to play a full 5 turns. For us, that is quite a speedy
playing-style.
Here's how it went:
-Ouch!
What? Who's been throwing stuff at me?
-Ehrm, dun be angry Boss, issa message thrown from on
of our recogna...ricagni... from one ov our scout Fightas, no Boss, dun hit me,
no, please Boss, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggh
-All roight ladz! Seems we've got anuvva message from
those no-gud flyboyz, lessee whassup eh?
Ah-ha! Seems like one of dem planes wiv a great big
=][= has been intarcipt... entircapt... caught by our fightaz at only 2 days o'
drivin' from here, and there seems to be some Umies in dem fancy panzee clothes
that crawled out dere alive.
Less go and see if there are any survivors, OK?
Arriving in a town almost simultaneously with a large
force of Inquisitions who woved themselves into an advantageous position,
WaaaghBoss GoldFang opened his vox-channel to issue his instructions.
All roight ladz, seems we are not the only ones to be searching for this here fancy pantz. Leave no building unchecked, and while yer at it, make sure to charge everything that moves. Immediately, the Demolisher opened up on the central building, collapsing the top-corner and a large section of the roof, unveiling the Templars in there. Stompa Klauz, 2 BattleWagons and almost everything in range opened up on them, causing the Templars to descend one floor to get to grips with the Orks all the sooner. First blood fer Stompa Klauz. A unit of BikerBoyz spotted the Inquisitors' retinue and unleashed their Big Shootaz. Loads of Dakka later, only the Inquisitor still stood, covered in the gore of his followers.
The Templars came out of the building and charged the Deff Koptaz rending one apart, while two Exorcists tried to off the Demolisher. The rest of the Inquisitorial forces moved further into position. Stompa Klauz and the Demolisher continued to pound the occupants of the building while my Speed Freaks went for the right flank, killing two troop-transports, exposing the occupants to a Biker charge. The footsloggers double-charged the foolhardy Templars that had taken the Kopta bait.
Two Thunderbolts made two passes each, one popping a
Leman Russ, the other strafing the StormBoyz.
The Sistaz solidified their advantageous firing positions while the armoured sections moved forwards, covered by the Seraphim. Shooting killed quite a lot of trakks, and our Fighta Bomma took out the best part of two squads of Stormtroopers with his Big Bombs. A squad of Seraphim charged in on the TankBustaz, killing all but the Nob, to then disengage and hide on the top floor of the central building, where they were quickly vaporised by the concentrated shooting of Stompa Klauz.
The Fighta Bomba passed by strafing some Zealots.
A great big melee was started around the building,
where almost all the Imperial troops were eliminated, and a lot of vehicles
(both Imperial and Orky) were reduced to wrecks but at the cost of a high Ork
body count
By turn 5, the bulk of the Footslogging Orks was still
advancing without having seen the enemy (save 3 units + the Bikes) while on the
other side the Puritains were still solidly defending some uncontested
buildings. The Inquisitor managed to escape, safeguarded by some Sistaz.
The Orks ended with more points on the table than the Inquisitorial forces, but not enough to mark a victory in a 7K game. The Radical forces took the main brunt of the Speed Freeks advance, while Stompa Klauz did more than his share in the killing, almost dying in the last turn from a ThunderBolts' Rokkits.
Oh, and for your reading pleasure, I give you the
story as told by one of the WitchHunters:
On Monday May the 28th, Sgt Shannon was relaxing in
the NCO mess of the Sisters of Battle 1st Battalion thinking about things
(taking a nap) when he was informed that one Imperial Valkyrie plane was missing,
presumed lost in the neighborhood of the new Parliament, a known Ork infested
place. With a sigh, he removed his feet from his desk, picked up his phone and
summoned his secretary to fetch him coffee. He had known about Ork activity
around the parliament for awhile, been in a nasty firefight there recently and
had decided to take proper action about it (do nothing unless ordered
otherwise). Trouble is, his holiness Cardinal Von Floutch was also carrying the
pay of the 1st Battalion and there was no way he'd let the green slime walk
away with his money. Damn he thought you can always count on the Navy to screw
up a perfectly good war. He then decided to unscrew this sorry state off
affairs and went to work.
After a quick briefing, in perfect harmony with a
sister unit, the two Sisters of Battle outfits rushed into action.
On site, the situation was quite clear: the cardinal
Von Floutch had sought refuge on top of a building, surrounded by his black
templar bodyguards and a giant wave of Orks was approaching to kill them all.
To make a long story short, the sisters blocked the
orks, killed a lot of them, rescued Von Floutch who was having a severe attack
of brown adrenaline, hustled him and his money case in a waiting rhino and
drove away. The left flank suffered heavy losses and were almost overwhelmed
but air support managed to keep the green slime at bay, destroying a number of
their tanks and damaging a Stompa. The right flank however performed in a cool
professional way and killed everything that came into range, The only losses
being a bunch of yahoo maniacs (the zealots), who insisted on dying for the
emperor and some unfortunate sisters. It has been rumored that the money
disappeared in the transfer but it's a filthy lie, we (the inquisition) are way
above this kind of behavior, and about the dead Black Templars, well, we're
sorry.
